RADIATOR FAILURE
Symptoms
Radiator failure normally reveals itself with the formation of a 'pin-hole' and consequent leakage of water. In severe cases 'pin-hole' failure can occur within weeks of installation.
Diagnosis
Failure indicates corrosion. In older systems corrosion is promoted by many factors including lack of inhibitor addition. Corrosion may even occur in very new systems indicating the presence of corrosive flux residues.
Remedy
Corroded radiators should be replaced. Then cleanse the system with either X300 System Cleaner, X800 Jetflo Ultimate Cleaner (preferably with power flushing) or X400 System Restorer. Use X300 for new systems and those up to 6 months old. In older systems, power flush with X800 Jetflo for a rapid and improved clean. Alternatively circulate X400 for 2 hours around the system. When cleaning badly fouled systems with X400, a longer period of circulation (up to four weeks) or power flushing is recommended.
Treatment
Once the system has been cleansed and thoroughly flushed, refill while adding Sentinel X100 Inhibitor which will protect all system metals from corrosion and help prevent further radiator failure.
